Summary
Detail-oriented Engineer with more than xx years of experience in product development and successfully leading multi-disciplinary teams in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment. Experienced with creating, reviewing, and approving 2D and 3D engineering data, testing plans, and technical reports. Responsible for project timeline plan, budgets, technical scope and change management.
Experience
Led the product development of the Unity program platform for the A350, B787 & B777 Aircrafts, ensuring on time delivery and quality of the mechanical design.
Oversaw the mechanical design groups (16 engineers) of the USA and Mexico by chairing internal design review meetings and providing analytical and creative feedback.
Coordinated the mechanical design development, from concept generation to design validation and testing, between five sister companies design groups located in Wales, France, Tunisia, Mexico & USA.
Monitored design targets for performance, weight and cost by tracking and implementing weight reduction strategies as well as cost saving measures.
Chaired program design review meetings with supporting engineering disciplines & Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure effective communication, design harmonization and overall product quality.
Created and tracked high-level schedule (MS Project), according to product development roadmap, for the Unity platform (24-month program) by coordinating development with mechanical & electrical design, flammability, stress, certification, testing, industrialization, and tooling departments.
Monitored design to cost by tracking recurring and non-recurring costs (RC & NRC), ensuring clear cost targets (20% less than current programs in production), and creating accountability among the team.
Defined and managed changes to technical scope statement (WBS), working with cross-functional departments, by overseeing product design reviews, detailed cost analysis, design for manufacturing, quality criteria, and process standardization throughout design phases such as Preliminary Design Review, (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), First Article Inspection (FAI), product launch and aftermarket sustaining efforts.
Achieved on-time completion of all engineering deliverables on the concept design phase (4 months) for the Unity platform program, by gathering, distributing, and tracking requirements per PBS item to the design engineers.
Led up to 4 production programs at a time (i.e. KLM 787, American Airlines 777, ANA 787, Emirates A380) to ensure on-time delivery by facilitating support to operations.
Processed Engineering Change Request (ECR) by proposing solutions using problem-solving/root cause analysis methodologies (QRQC, 5WHY, DMAIC).
Scheduled engineering changes release plans for 3D models and 2D drawings to support production by approving designs for prototype submittal to validate design changes.
Handled improvements to the product submitted by operations by generating and tracking engineering change notices (ECN) and notifying Boeing or Airbus using the Request for Authorization of Change (RAC) and (EDES) Equipment Definition Evolution Sheet respectively.
Communicated released engineering changes to the Integrated Product Team (IPT) by being an engineering member of the Change Control Board (CCB).
